05.5 - Engine Idle Speed Adjustment
The idle setting of the carburetor has a big influence on the vehicle’s starting behavior, on stable idling and on the vehicles response when the throttle is opened.
An engine with a correctly set idle speed is easier to start than an engine with the idle speed set incorrectly.
The idle speed is adjusted with the idle speed adjusting screw.
- If the engine is cold, start it up and warm it up for 3-4 minutes. Then shut it off.
- Connect a tachometer to the engine.
- Shift the transmission into neutral. Start the engine.
- Remember to keep the motorcycle in an upright position.
- Adjust the idle speed with the idle adjusting screw or knob
- Idle Speed: 1,500 – 1,800 ± 100 RPM
- NEVER ADJUST THE AIR/FUEL MIXTURE SCREW IT HAS BEEN SET AT THE FACTORY AND SHOULD ONLY BE ADJUSTED BY AN AUTHORIZED AJ1 DEALER.
